I'm running for the 487th Criminal District Court of Harris County, TX.
I hope to leverage the knowledge and experience I gained serving as a Felony Associate Judge and to make sure that on day one the 487th Criminal District Court runs efficiently, while still ensuring that everyone who walks into the courtroom is treated with dignity and respect.
Growing up as the youngest of three sisters in Colon, Panama, I learned the importance of using my voice early on. My passion for justice led me to graduate from Howard University School of Law and serve in various legal roles, including my current position as a Felony Associate Judge in Harris County. I've handled numerous high-profile cases and maintained a reputation for fairness. Additionally, I am dedicated to community service, particularly in supporting at-risk youth.
Values
Dignity
Ensure that everyone is treated with dignity no matter their background, socio economic status, or identity. Whether you’re the prosecution or defense, you will have an opportunity to be heard.
Fairness
My fidelity is to the law. I will continue to rule on cases by applying the correct law to the facts before me and doing so without prejudice or bias for or against anyone.
Integrity
The judge sets the tone in the courtroom. I will uphold the highest standards and require the same of my staff to model the standards everyone should uphold when practicing in my court.
Impact
Impact is about thinking deeply on how we ensure that everyone in Harris County lives in a safe neighborhood where they can thrive. I want to expand the resources utilized in the probation system to connect offenders with job and community based resources so they can have the tools needed to succeed once they successfully complete probation with the goal of decreasing recidivism.
Further, we must implement efforts to lower the backlog of pending cases because justice delayed is often justice denied. I was hired as a Felony Associate Judge over two years ago and have significantly contributed to backlog reduction. I know how to increase efficiency without sacrificing due process.
